With all this talk around studio spaces, I thought that I would share this photo of my studio?garage. It is a little cramped with all the rest of the house hold junk. At the minut there isent even this space as carpets and some furniture has been moved out of the way for the repainting of the house.…

I just completed this studio painting, based on a plein air I did in 2010. One of my favourite places to paint, this spot is on the coast road between Fethard and Hook Head.

These three paintings are in a show that I just hung.  The dog, and the aerial painting are 4 ft x 3 ft,  and the other one is 5 ft x 4 ft.   The photos did not come out very well.  I hope to take some pictures at the opening.  I have another show in January also, so I am busy in the studio.  …

To days double whammy…

I started to so some larger studio paintings from plein air reference material a few weeks ago. I've been concentrating on not just copying plein airs on a larger scale (nigh impossible anyway), but rather embellishing them by doing things like adding figures, playing around with texture, and using varying brushstrokes. These are my most recent three:-

With 2011 drawing to a close, and less sunlight in the day, we stayed close to home for this paintout. It was great to take some time to explore this area, as there has always been  a bit of confusion (even with Wexfordians) between these locations. Katts Strand, Riverbank,and the working pier.

John Cullinan, Statia,  Margaret, Sunomi, Liz, Aurthur,Terrence, Geraldine, Karina, Kevin , Sandra and myself..made a very strong turnout of 13 today in Waterford. We had a great welcome from the Waterford crew, who hosted an excellent days painting.

The city was steeped in  cool Autumnal sunshine, which gave light to plenty of sites to paint! It got quite cold…

Just recieved email from Plein Eire. Im looking forward to trying out the new "Painting at home for the winter" idea.
