SEPA is an association of amateur and professional painters who paint together regularly outdoors in S.E. Ireland. All artists are welcome. SEPA organises Ireland's 'Art in the Open' plein air festival. SEPA membership is free. NB. As with all Paint-Outs posted on Plein Eire, these events are simply notifications of intent by one individual to be at a particular place and time to paint. Each member's participation is entirely at his/her own risk. No responsibility for harm or loss of person or property on the part of anyone else is intended or implied.

For photos of SEPA's previous paint outs, click on this link: SEPA photos

Here are a few ideas for paint-out venues. Please add your own suggestions and we'll get a schedule together for the coming weeks. Your addfitional recommendations welcome.

Ballinkeele House

Newtownbarry House & Gardens

Dunamore Wood (Borodale) (no facilities)

Rosslare Harbour Lagoon

Tinahely

Wexford Beaches

Wexford Gardens

The Still Pond, near Enniscorthy

As ever, it is weather permitting, so in case the organiser needs to cancel, please indicate by RSVP for each event so a single message will let everyone know if an event is 'On' or 'Off'.

In particular, it seems smaller villages where we have access to coffee and a bite and a chance to say'hello' are sought-after venues. Here are some suggestions:

Looked at the film the other day and it looks a lovely place. Karen speaks very well on it, as does David and a few other artists who we have met both here and in the states.
Sure no harm in trying to get juried into a couple of events over there specially if they run concurrently.
OH is anyone thinkin of going to PLEIN AIR CONVENTION 2015 ??? I am THINKING of going, anyone else??
Its in April in Monterey California. fantastic place and event. Jane Meyler and I have attended the first two conventions, in las Vegas and Monterey, This is the last year it will be in Monterey, plans are afoot for a different venue in 2016. If you are thinkin of going, let me know.

Thanks for that, sure a few of us might as well throw our hat in the ring and see if we can get a spot at the five day event in June. Plenty of time as applications can go in till February, I was making enquiries about it myself and a couple of other plein air events in the USA.

Dear SEPA member,
Here is an announcement of a fabulous opportunity to take part in a 5-day plein air event and show in the USA.

Annapolis in Maryland, is twinned with Wexford and for several years the city, with its fishing harbour and naval base has held its own plein air event, called 'Paint Annapolis'. It is a fun but prestigious event with some outstanding artists and substantial awards to be won. Last year there were 27 juried artists. Chairman of the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association which oversees 'Paint Annapolis', is artist David Diaz, who is a great friend and supporter of our own national event, 'Art in the Open'. In a spirit of mutual friendship, David has lobbied for a place at Paint Annapolis to be reserved for one artist resident in Co. Wexford.
The 'Paint Annapolis' 2015 applications go 'live' in a few days. It will be a juried event. Apply through the website in the knowledge that one County Wexford artist will be going! And it could be YOU!

Here is the website: http://www.mdfedart.com/pages/paint_annapolis.php

For a flavour of Paint Annapolis, you can see a video of the 2014 event (and spot Irish artist Karen Scannell) here: http://pleineire.ning.com/video/paintannapolis

Thanks Geraldine. In turn I would like to thank all who came along to St Mullins yesterday. It was great to see the usual suspects and some very welcome new colleagues. I hope that the big turnout augurs well for the future.

I would like to thank George for organizing the paint out today in St Mullins.  A brilliant turn out.  So good to meet up with y'all.  Photos to follow but due to (1) flat camera battery, (2) technical problems logging into pix.ie......(3) technophobia....this might take some time!
