An early medieval foundation with delightful streetscapes, picturesque views of the River Nore. Birthplace of the 18th century philosopher George Berkeley and today equally famous for its proximity to the famous championship golf course, Mount Juliet. It has just been announced that this course will hold the 2005 Ryder Cup.

SEPA's Paintout atThomastown 12/3/12 :
Another surprise awaited us at Thomastown today. Usually a "drive through" village, we'd seldom get a chance to stop and look around.
Photo: Karina, George, and two friendly locals .....
Beyond the village itself, which has some great winding roadways, Thomastown Bridge, and riverbank gave us some great vantage points, and fresh material. Grennan Mill looked fantastic, while Jerpoint Abbey (E3 entry) is a short distance away, also , Discert, Thomastown we were informed by local artist "Ian", is another possible location for a future date.
Definitely one to revisit!
