Web Link :- Raven Point
Curracloe Beach is probably Ireland's longest beach, and famous for the filming of "Saving Private Ryan", near Ballineskar.
For visitors ,Curracloe can descibe the whole expanse of beach, but in fact the stretch of coast is made up of numerous place names.
Raven Point is at the very north tip of the beach, followed by Culleton's Gap, Currecloe, Ballineskar, Ballinaclash , and Ballyconnegar (near Blackwater Village). There are most likely areas which I've missed. Please let me know if so.
SEPA( South East Plein Air)
Our local Plein Air Painting Group SEPA, have enjoyed painting this location numerous times, most memorably during Art In The Open Festival 2011.
The Forest has a trail which would take easily an hour to walk, so if your thinking of exploring a little, be mindful of time, and how much equipment you need to take with you. Raven Wood, the Dunes and Beach provide plenty of Inspiration.
Directions
To reach Culleton's Gap, the easiest way is to drive directly to Curracloe Beach. When you reach the main Car park, you'll notice that the road carries on to to your left and right.
Follow the road to your Right, until you reach the entrance to Raven Wood. There is plenty of parking space.
