Brrrr Jane and I braved it down at Bally trent Beach today!!! Boy was it cold!! I got myself into a lovely little spot just at the entrance to the beach. The dune had built up over the course of the winter and there was quite a bit of shelter there, and a lovely little run off of water from the land, however by the time I was finished my feet were ice!!
Still it was lovely to get out and slap on some paint!!…

Been drawn to the beach this weather like a bee loves nectar. The big skies around Carne and south Wexford are just a pleasure to try to capture, although for me its often a case of going too far and not knowing when to "step away from the painting"!!!
I must say its been great getting out most days and giving it a go, even though its often FREEEZING!!
The brightness for the last week is very uplifting I believe!
It definitely draws me out to paint when its cold and…

This time of year its hard to try to stick the cold and wind. However I have been doing my best to get out and paint as I need " Brush Mileage" I am like the michelin man with all the layers on in an effort to keep the Baltic wind out of my bones.
One thing though, the cold makes me paint quicker and stay away from detail, as I know 1hour and 15-30 minutes will be the max I can stick the cold, before I have to head in and get rid of the numb fingers!!!
YES I do have fingerless…

Hello right back at you Louise.
Finally home from the PA convention and once again you and Jane were missed. I'd love to come out to Art in the Open some year so let me know when you start making your decisions and if my calendar (and budget) permits, I'll come.
Thanks Louise - it was great to get out and be with others similarly afflicted!!
Hi Louise...great to hear from you! Looking forward to getting back there to Ireland and seeing you and all the rest of the wonderful gang! I should get there sometime around the 18th of July I would think. Staying at Karen's so say hi to her. Hope all is well..Ned
Just booked my flights! Sooooo excited. And terrified. Flying is always an unbelievable experience. Chuckle.
Hi Louise - Thank you for your encouragement - I see by the comments below that you were a 'mature' academic student - as we say here, 'You GO Girl!'
- Sandi
Avid Plein Eire member Louise together with a number of fellow students will be taking their finals for BA (Fine Art) in a few days. Perhaps in other areas of the country (Louise has been studying in Wexford) other members have friends who have spent the last few years exploring art in a contemporary course. Lou won't mind my saying that for a mature student, it is a very onerous and daunting undertaking. Some juggle their course with bringing up a young family. Well done to them all.
Good luck in your finals. Louise!
We can't wait to have you back outside with us with your easel and palette - I'm not sure your tutors would entirely approve of us, but win, lose or draw, you've earned it.
Wexford Fine Art Degree Show opens at 6pm May 23rd at Wexford Arts Centre.
Hi Louise,
How are you? Siobhán here....we met at the festival in Wexford. I ust want to say a HUGE thanks for the warm Wexford welcome from all at the festival. It was a fantastic few days. Will be back next year for sure with a group in tow...have sung the festivals virtues to all my art mates...and they are coming!
Special, special thanks to yourself and Jane for your boundless generosity in making the Rosslare paint-out complete magic. Hope to make another paint out before the weather closes in and hope to see you there. Meantime take care of yourself and Thelma!!!!!!!!!
