I'm always intrigued by people who look down their noses at fellow artists who copy the work of other painters.
I'm fascinated by this example of the supreme master of the landscape, John Constable, copying a work by Ruisdael that was painted almost 200 years before him in 1650. What's more, Constable got paid for it. Figure out which is the copy.…

In a first for the group, Boyne Valley Plein Eire, visited the National Gallery on Saturday, Jan 11, 2014. Overall, a total of 15 were in attendance. While some members, painted in the locality, most of us went on the gallery visit, and took in the Turner watercolours, the gallery in general as well as the Irish section. There was much interchange of ideas and comment among members as we toured the gallery, and we even waited until 3pm when The…

Hi Sean, enjoyed Painting en plein air on Saturday and chatting in the Seasons Cafe.
Kind regards,
Caitriona
thank you for your kind comment - your work is outstanding - mistiness/colour and magic!
Thanks Sean, Looks amazing! I'll definitely make an effort to see the exhibition.
See you Saturday at Tara I hope.
Sean and Norah, thank you both for your interesting comments. Yes, the boots and Sean saved me from being swallowed up by the bog, thank you Sean.
Yip. It will look fab proudly displayed on your mantlepiece
Hello Sean,
I can't wait to see your next appearance in one of Sally's blockbusters. It'll be great to see you picking up a gong at the Oscars to.
Thanks for your nice comments. Hope to see you in a future paintout in the SE soon.
Cant wait now for the postman Sean - think the book I ordered is no.3 in a series and the cover looks different from your one (think the cover on your one would make a good painting of telly from the early days), hope to get up to the Botanic gardens some day this week for some sketching !
Hi Sean,
Great to have you join us on Plein Eire. All the better that you are a keen contributor and interested in the web as that is what keeps a community site like this one ticking. Within the site are several regional groups. We need more of those so everyone can be involved but close to you are Dublin Plein Eire and Dublin Sketchers. You will find them listed under the 'Groups' tab and by joining you will receive notice of their paint-outs and sketching trips in the vicinity.
Enjoy the site.
