Bonsai Tree

Sycamore 20 years old. My son planted it from seed when he was 9. An attempt at making a Bonsai. I did this drawing to send to him in London. A drawing done in the garden.

"Noel this is wonderful. I really like it, and yes I agree it does have a Soralla feel to it, all that lovely light. It recalled a memory for me also, from a few years ago when my wife and I were in St.Ives in Cornwall and suffered a similar fate.…"

"Noel, just found this, a superb painting, what a great moment the photographer caught. I wonder how the seagulls are surviving now, Id say they are out fishing, I can smell the salt and vinegar and hear the gulls screaming"

Virtual Paint out in Howth

When Howth was mentioned as a Virtual Paint Out, I started looking for subject matter. I came across this image and I couldn't resist having a go. The scene is so evocative of Howth and during this lockdown I taught I would love Fish & Chips from Beshoffs. This image is copyright, but I don't know who the photographer is. I also reminded…

Portrait of daughter in oil.

I painted this during the Covid 19 Lockdown. I am writing this a s a blog because I didn't think it was apt to go in the Open Air Gallery. She posed for 4 x 20mins with 10min breakers in-between. It took me 10 - 12 hours to complete.

She liked it and asked me to do a matching one of her fiancee. I'll post when completed.…

I'll be there Noel, I thought about it, but was afraid it would be difficult to set up for everybody, but your use of Zoom is a great idea, Id love if some others joined in.

Here is a watercolour of the clock tower in Slane (painted early morning yesterday ... with no-one around).

Either I painted the left hand clock at 7:30 and the right-hand one at 7:55 ... or this is a gentle reminder that time is a human construct :)
