I have an exhibition running at the moment in the Cedars Hotel, Rosslare Strand (continues until 29th September), and to draw attention to it, I've decided to paint occasionally in the hotel lobby. I just completed this studio painting, based on a plein air I did in 2010. One of my favourite places to paint, this spot is on the coast road between Fethard and Hook Head.

I started to so some larger studio paintings from plein air reference material a few weeks ago. I've been concentrating on not just copying plein airs on a larger scale (nigh impossible anyway), but rather embellishing them by doing things like adding figures, playing around with texture, and using varying brushstrokes. These are my most recent three:-
