"There is something special about the rooftops and the old buildings in Wexford that is so appealing. I passed as you were quietly painting this John so it is wonderful to see it. I love the composition, the mural is beautifully painted and it all…"
"Thanks for your vote of confidence Penny. This was my last painting after a week of watercolour exasperation, but I found new energy as a calm summer's evening was setting in at this quiet spot in the field at the back of Ballymore house. There…"
"Thanks Kyrle and Kevin, I did consider submitting it for the exhibition, but I wanted to submit the pig painting also and unfortunately I only had one 40 x 30 cm of the five different frame formats I brought with me!"
"I agree with Kevin here, this a real nice composition, its intriguing and beautifully painted, The mural is especially good as I think the image wouldn't succeed as well if this was less so. Lovely watercolour and very apt for Wexford."
"Maybe it's because I'm a Wexfordian, but this is my favourite of the three John. I was surprised you didn't exhibit this one. I suppose it's my thing really and you captured it so well. I love it. I hope you won't mind if I…"

"Lovely set of local landmarks Kevin. I've grown to prefer W&S paper over the past year, but I note how vibrant the colours appear to work for you on the Fabriano, particularly on this lovely old doorway. Pity they don't try to adapt…"
hello John - thanks for your kind comment about my work. I'm answering you here because I can't find where to reply and now I've lost your message!!
Anyway, you asked about how I created the light "VINI" against the dark background? the paint was quite rich and when the shine had left the paper, I used a rigger with a tiny amount of water to push the paint aside and form the letters. used same technique with "LIQUORI" but paint was drying fast, it gave me the opportunity to paint thick dark value paint into damp and light value for some letters and light for the rest.
(I've tried email you directly thru Plein Eire but doesn't seem to be operative today).
A colleague can't take up his spot at People's Art on Stephen's Green this weekend - he's offered it to me - tho I think it will be too cold - I'd like to try it.
I asked Tom Scott if I could delegate it to him bit he's otherwise engaged- he suggested I ask you! Could you take charge of Plein Eire to Farmleigh on Sat am? If you can't -no prob - I'll break off from Green.
