Sorry i missed those great paintouts, We havehad illness in the family and i have been otherwise occupied.
You should try those memory lapses more frequently, Frank, if it means producing brill paintings like last Saturday's one just painting with that little piece of plastic that you used as a substitute for your brushes. A new genre is born!
Thanks Carmel for Saturday. That was a great day, even if I did forget to bring my brushes!!
Congrats to Carmel on organising a great day. She must have some influence somewhere to get the sun shining like it did. Fantastic location and the citizens of Dublin seem to appreciate it too.
Thanks Norah for posting yesterday. What a great location to paint in especially with the gorgeous autumn colours! Shelbourne htl was very posh if a little expensive!
Sounds like a return trip is called for Patrick and Caroline - especially as I have just poured white spirit all over my effort as I was trying to fix it and it is now a blank canvas again. That was a great lot you fitted in yesterday Patrick - I didnt have my camera so hope some of you will email them or post them on a blog ? We must have made an odd bunch in the Shelbourne with all our various attire for painting !!!
It was a great day yesterday. As long as I have lived very close to the Shelbourne, I have never had coffee there! Lovely to experience. Was going to go back to Green today, to do an Oil Painting of scene I was working yesterday, but it is still raining. Great to meet up with everyone again yesterday, and I saw some VERY NICE work being worked on! I went out painting on my own to Portobello Bridge a few weeks ago, and will continue working on that painting today. A venue for another outing for the group??
Many thanks to Norah for organising yesterdays paint out at St. Stephens Green. It was a good idea to leave the comfort of our little Valley and head
into the city centre to paint. The benefits for me were. 1. The 10am start got me out of bed early. 2. I was able to make a quick visit to the National Gallery and stand in front of Masters such as Goya, Van Gogh, Caravaggio and Vermeer in an empty gallery. 3. I got to have tea in the Shelbourne with some very nice people. 4. I got to paint all day in the company of the great Pat the Painter and pick up many wonderfull tips on how to improve my painting. 5. I learned how to paint with the constant awareness that people were looking over my shoulder. 6. I got a lift home in the Pat the Painter Van. Fantastic - why do I feel like I have arrived.
Wont be available for next few weeks. Pity.
Just want to thank BVPA Group for a lovely paint out on Saturday last. Ger and I are new members but we were made so welcome, a particular thanks to Dee who was the first person we met and who filled us in on quite a lot. What beautiful weather too for October. We look forward to meeting you again DV. Eileen
