Digital Virtual Paint-out HOWTH at Howth Harbour

Because we can't meet face-to-face, this is a Digital Virtual Paint-out for the Howth area , no matter where in Ireland, people live, with imagery we can access online in our own homes. Howth has a lot to offer with 2 lighthouses, a harbour with lots of colourful boats, a customs house, a martello tower and there's also a Howth castle. And we have a week to produce a result. December Art Show
These three paintings are in a show that I just hung. The dog, and the aerial painting are 4 ft x 3 ft, and the other one is 5 ft x 4 ft. The photos did not come out very well. I hope to take some pictures at the opening. I have another show in January also, so I am busy in the studio. …

Thank you! We all went out to Laytown, Co. Meath to paint plein eire style. Everyone else concentrated on the river banks etc., but I thought the structure of these would be a challenge. They are the seed heads of the summer thistle (I don't know the proper name for them). In summer they have purple tops on them. You don't see too many of them in Ireland, they are more common in England, so when I saw them I jumped at chance to paint them!

Weather is starting to change here now, with the chill of winter in the air. It's a beautiful time of year though...
