Cooley Mountains from Long Strand

"Wow Sally, great atmosphere in this one. I love your perspective in your clouds. A touch of the Paul Henry in some ways. I love it."

Autumn at Hook

"Sheila! Sheila! Sheila! What a superb painting. It is magnificent.  I agree wholeheartedly with Kyrle. The light on the middle bale, the sheen on the water and those lovely cumulous clouds along the horizon, wow! you've a winner with this…"

Well well Kevin, can't imagjne not bumping into you in the village of Dunmore East. I see your style has developed well since our last encounter. I love your rendering of the Dunmore East lifeboat. My cousin, Paddy Billy Power was coxswain of the Dunmore East lifeboat for many years and received many awards for his service. I hope to get to a paint out soon. J

Not sure yet, Kevin, where we’re off to this weekend. Might you be in the area? We went to Virginia last Sat. It was beautiful and I’m sure we’ll do it again sometime. You missed a great time at  the Dublin Fest.  And Connemara was its usual very enjoyable with a great crowd numerically and craicwise.  Don’t forget we’re off to Donegal for a few nights 19th August.   Might you join us there?

I like your use of the w/c pencils.  That barge does look interesting and I’m sure, although I really know nothing about it,  looked very foreign in Wexford.

I think I’ve already sent you the Donegal details but if you can’t find them and are interested let me know. All the best. Sally

thank you very much!

Mainly a "watercolour artist", my paintings are representational works of the ordinary streets, countryside and coastal areas that surround us daily. My passion is for painting buildings and boats and I love to find that unusual viewpoint of familiar places. I like to think of watercolour as an act of Faith, Hope and Clarity, as one well-known artist once described it. Have Faith in ones ability, Hope it turns out alright and endeavour to maintain the Clarity  I also enjoy drawing very much.

'The Schoolgoers'

Bringing my two little nephews Bobby and Jamie to school the other morning, couldn't resist this photo which I thought would make a nice painting.  Happy with the result.

2019 Lion's Club Art Exhibition Entry

Well, it's that time of the year for the annual Lion's Club Art exhibition at Wexford Arts Centre.  Was honoured last year when my entry won a merit award so felt obliged to put one in again for this year. The result - 'Friary Stained Glass Windows' - took eight days to complete and is a watercolour pen and wash on an 18x14 watercolour board. Exhibition starts tomorrow 25th and runs for a month.…

Mary Street, Commission

Now that Autumn has passed and we enter Winter, haven't been outside much doing many paintings.  However I was lucky enough to be given a couple of commissions lately and the one posted here is my favourite of the pair.  It is of my favourite building in Wexford - the Franciscan Friary, which I have painted many times from various angles, but this is the iconic view from the bottom of Mary Street: and I believe is on its way to someone for Christmas.  I was very happy with the result as it…

Following up on a request from Sally Downey to have a go at more portraits here's one of my God daughter Sheila, rendered today. Happy enough with it, but sadly doesn't really do such a gorgeous girl justice. Still will keep trying.
