Plein Eire

Your Site For Artists Who Paint Outdoors

Just to say a huge thank you to all who worked so hard, and so professionally, to make the Wexford Plein Air Painting Festival such a great success. I was blown away by the warm welcome from everyone, by the great organisation, by the attention to detail - all in such a short space of time and with so many participants - it was simply brilliant.
How you put together that huge exhibition so quickly with lovely hanging arrangements and typed painting details was just remarkable.  And the exhibition looked so good, so fresh with the energy, enthusiasm and creativity of 100 artists - it lifted my spirits and I floated home in my car to the West! And it was a most enjoyable and memorable weekend,  making lots of new friends, and I would encourage any painter to put Wexford August Bank Holiday into their diary for 2011.
Thanks again to all the Committee members for making such a great event. John Dinan

Looks like everyone had a good time. Here's a quote from Michael Richardson on Wetcanvas (www.wetcanvas.com - check out the plein air forum in response to my post):-

"Anyone thinking of doing this next year, put it in your diaries now! What an event! The legendary Irish hospitality, great venues and a fabulous exhibition centre. What more do you need?"
Here is an album of photographs of the festival:- http://pix.ie/tonyrobinson/album/384440. Most of the photos belong to Jim Doolan, friend, artist and AITO adjudicator. The notion of putting them up on Pixie or Flickr is thanks to Tracy O'Brien and is a good way to post photgraphs of paint-outs and so on. Hope you like them and I'm sure many more people have some memorable shots of the recent festival which you may want to add to this thread.

Hi everyone,
I just joined Pleine Eire a few days ago, co-incidentally after visiting Enniscorthy last Saturday July 31 after seeing a multitude of artists and easels scattered about the town. I was well impressed to see such colour and dedication from these artists on a very changeable and showery day. On investigation I discovered the artists were part of the Plein Air Festival. The event certainly brightened up my day and encouraged me to join. Congrats to all who took part.... Joe M.
Nice pics Tony, great idea uploading them all here.

A great set of photos Tony and Jim......a work of art in themselves and introduces many of the artists to newcomers to the site. Regards Joe M.

I was excited to read and see pictures of the event! How exciting, and what a friendly group you all are. I am going to try hard to get there next summer.
Really enjoyed seeing the photos of the festival!

Sorry there are a few entries missing.
I'm delighted to see that Tom King got some deserved recognition for that fabulous watercolour of the Bull Ring. As for yours truly, I won't let the fame go to my head!
