Your Site For Artists Who Paint Outdoors

I'm thinking Thursday 25th, for our second outing. Wexford Quay at 5.30 - 6pm.. If you have somewhere near your locality that you think will work..go for it! I'd advise trying to limit it to an hour, as the weather at the moment means it can get cold v. quickly. Wear extra thermals, bring a flask of "something", a headlamp( make sure you have it on the right setting), and if you can paint in a group..all the better!..

It takes a little while for your eyes to adjust...but it's a bit like Christmas..you can't wait to SEE what you painted when you get home!! ( a surprise).

Good luck everyone!!

Trim in co.Meath where I work is lovely in the evening as the castle is well light up so if weather ok I will give it a go Karen ! (anyone else in the area interested send me an email)
If the weather is good, I" m in
By the light.....of the silvery moon.....
I will be there....
just to paint en plein air (if its fair).
If its the moon you want, its a full moon on Sunday 21st November (just after a quarter to 6pm to be precise) with a bit of cloud forecast. That might be good too.
What about a '3 phases of the moon' challenge (ie. crescent, half and full moon.) ?
A loony idea?
See how it goes tomorrow perhaps.
Well next week is our Thanksgiving, but I'm game, so I'll give it a go
I have to be in town at 8.30, so I will come in earlier and be there for kickoff about 6.
And Happy Thanksgiving to all our American pals.
Hope some of you got a piece done last night. We should definitely do one again soon. I found it helped to simplify the scene, as it was so dark. The headlamp I brought was a "must have". It got quite cold around an hour into it..so I think bring I'll a flask of tea/ coffee next time.
There was a big change when it came to "passers by"...I noticed they steered well clear of me..except for one man who came over tentatively, and laughing nervously said :
" Jaysus, I've seen it all now...painting in the dark"!!
Love the 3-phases of the moon challenge idea......would it be called the "jaffa-cake challenge"..or " a jafa in a jiffy challenge"!!...it gets worse!!
Was that you?
- I thought it was Tuskar.

And every time you looked over all I could see was coloured spots.
Tony - I've just realized what you mean...tell me I didn't have the wrong setting on my headlight, and those red lights weren't flashing on my head ??????
This is a great idea..I'll give it a try, weather permitting.
See you there.
But I'm bringing the hip flask this time!
That's disgraceful. I'm bringing the painter's traditional tipple of the cheapest vin de pays laced with methylated spirit.
