Your Site For Artists Who Paint Outdoors

The heat made for fast drawing and painting yesterday. We were wondering how anyone manages to complete a painting outdoors, I think this one was 95 % done on location. Watercolor on fabriano 11 x 14

Great result love the buildings and reflections and you can get a sence of the hot day. Brilliant. Sorry I missed it.

Yes Kyrle Michelle was nearby as we thought it would be cooler beside the water. It was about an hour and half with break in shade and factor 50. The venue I had in mind was Moyglare at Fureys pub but i gotvthem mixed up, i need to get familiar with google earh

I love this one Norah, The foreground and reflections are super,  great composition as well. I don't know how you did such a great painting in that heat. I think you had a great spot looking up towards the bridge, but there was no shelter there I think. Kudos for finding the venue too.!! a good day for you indeed.

Thank you Sally, and Michelle.  I am still thinking about putting in those poles and lines and need to add a few touches here and there.

Norah, two beautiful watercolours again. Your reflections are great and the red roof reflection is very well placed.  I see what you meant about darkening the path.  You achieved what you wanted - drawing the eye to the buildings on the left and that dark shadowed corner in right foreground really pushes us up the towpath.

You captured the scene at The Hill of the Down so well in spite of the heat Norah. It’s a beautiful lively painting. I love ‘Dragonfly and Meadowsweet’
