SEPA is an association of amateur and professional painters who paint together regularly outdoors in S.E. Ireland. All artists are welcome. SEPA organises Ireland's 'Art in the Open' plein air festival. SEPA membership is free. NB. As with all Paint-Outs posted on Plein Eire, these events are simply notifications of intent by one individual to be at a particular place and time to paint. Each member's participation is entirely at his/her own risk. No responsibility for harm or loss of person or property on the part of anyone else is intended or implied.

Here are a few ideas for paint-out venues. Please add your own suggestions and we'll get a schedule together for the coming weeks. Your addfitional recommendations welcome.

Ballinkeele House

Newtownbarry House & Gardens

Dunamore Wood (Borodale) (no facilities)

Rosslare Harbour Lagoon

Tinahely

Wexford Beaches

Wexford Gardens

The Still Pond, near Enniscorthy

As ever, it is weather permitting, so in case the organiser needs to cancel, please indicate by RSVP for each event so a single message will let everyone know if an event is 'On' or 'Off'.

In particular, it seems smaller villages where we have access to coffee and a bite and a chance to say'hello' are sought-after venues. Here are some suggestions:

Cockleshell Exhibition.

It was very enjoyable and a very pleasant launch - great socially.

However it would help to know how many sales there were and the total value of sales before recommending it become an annual event.

As it's still early in the year, the South Slobs will provide better Shelter ...so I think that'll be the best option...

Here's a link to last years paint out in The South Slobs SOUTH SLOBS

Heee - Haaww ...v. funny !!

Thanks for those suggestions.. .I'll stick them in the schedule...Perhaps we could do a double whammy in Enniscorthy.. Vinegar hill and the battlements... We'll need a mild day for that, as I was up there during AIO 2011..and it can be quite chilly !

Karen, why is it rare to see a Norse here nowadays?

- coz they're in the fridge at Supabuys...(I'll get my coat).

Sounds good. For future ref., we also have standing invitations to Bargy Castle and to Ballinkeele House in Ballymurn. And i reckon Artramon House and Farm, up from Eden Vale, might be happy to see us, too although probs rather muddy around the farm this time of year. And we've a free pass to paint from the battlements of Enniscorthy Castle anytime (one of very few that will allow it), if you want to stay with your historical theme.

I'll argue about most things, Karen, except history! So I'll take your word for that. You know me, I'll paint anywhere, so either North or South and I'm happy.

Wexford 10 day weater forecast..... light showers 7 degrees

History of Wexford Town

In a country steeped in myth and legend Wexford's history is no exception. A story tells of its origin in the mists of time, when Garman Garbh was drowned on the mudflats by waters released by an Enchantress. The vast expanse of harbour thus created was named "The lake of Garman" or Loch Garman, the Gaelic name for Wexford.

Wexford, derived from the Norse, Weissfiord - inlet of the mudflats

Sooooo how about The North or South Slobs this Sunday for a Paintout ??? :)
