Hi all Plein Eire'rs

Perhaps our program should vary between revisiting "old reliables" locations and new ones. I don't know how many of you are familiar with the War Memorial Gardens in Islandbridge, designed by Edwin Lutyens, famous Edwardian architect (the Cenotaph in Downing St as well the Manor on Lambay Is are his designs). Even if you have visited it before it looked resplendent last week even on a dull day with all the leaves falling, tho the rose terraces were past their best. A bit of architecture, landscape, water, all in one spot!

For those of you who are fond of their creature comforts I suggest the nearest hostelry is Hilton Kilmainham beforehand (opp Gaol), but as it is a short car journey away I'll set up my stall in the Memorial Gardens carpark at 10.30, with camping stove & kettle, croissants, muffins, etc!
