Event Description

Located near Oldcastle, County Meath,

Loughcrew is a magical experience that combines history, beauty, fantasy and atmosphere. Visitors can take a walk through centuries of garden and landscape fantasy. enchanting features are displayed in a setting steeped in atmosphere and history.

If you enjoyed reading Lewis Carrol's, Alice in Wonderland, this is the place for you.

Plenty of opportunities to paint a variety of landscapes in peace and tranquility.

Note:Admission is normally 6 euro's in, but I have managed to get a knock down price of 2 euro's per person on condition we avail of tea /coffee/snacks or lunch in the cáfe.

It might be a good idea to get lunch first before we set up,as it tends to get crowded during the day and the owner is looking forward to admiring the artwork

  •  Directions: From Dublin City or Airport, get on the M50 Ring Road and head for the M3/Cavan junction (exit 6). Loughcrew is approximately 1 hour from the M50. Take the M3 to Cavan and the Northwest. After reaching the end of the motorway, take the first exit to Oldcastle at the second roundabout. Follow this road until coming to Loughcrew Gardens and Coffee Shop on the left-hand side.

For anyone who likes great open views you can drive to the hill at loughcrew - just about a mile away from the coffee shop, park and paint  from the car park or if you want a better view then about a 5 min walk up the hill will get you a really great location without having to puff and pant too far up the hill, but for the stone circle you need to get to the top but its worth it and no charge for entry.  There is also a good free guided tour of the tomb if you get finished early
