Plein Eire Dublin Paint-Outs

A 'Paint-Out' can be arranged by anyone. Even an impromptu session can be posted here if the weather is promising and you have an afternoon or a morning to spare. We try to meet regularly. Just decide on a time and a suitable venue and post a notice on the group page and 'Events'.

Time and location to be posted in advance both on "Plein Eire Dublin" and "Events" pages on this Plein Eire site.

RSVP on 'Events' for notice to be sent to you in the event of any change in plans or check this Plein Eire Dublin Group page on the morning of a paint-out .

  1. Nominate a time and location with reasonable painting prospects.
  2. Identify a local cafe or hostelry for artists to meet in before and after.
  3. Indicate if there is parking available nearby, and if its free or metered.
  4. Post the suggestion to 'Events'and copy and paste the link to the Comment Wall below on this page.

Members may also propose paint-outs at other times as suits them and ask for other members who may be available to join them.

Hi Svetlana, as I live close to you in Sandyford I can pick you up. Anyone else in the Sandyford/Leopardstown area is also welcome to come with me.

Good news for First-Sat May (04/05) Paint Out!

We've been invited by PE Dub member Michael Keogh to join his painting group at a visit to St Fiacra's and the Japanese Gardens at the National Stud near Kildare. Michael says:

"There is a very nice Coffee/self-service dining facility just inside the Entrance and also adjacent to this, is a tourist-type souvenir shop etc…Car parking is free. There is an entrance fee charge to the complex but I have arranged to have this waivered for our members on the day. I stress, I think it is St Fiacra’s Garden that will enthral the members. Wonderful lake, old medieval type buildings, swans, ducks etc..Yes there will be horses and of course we must respect security of ourselves as well as the horses! In other words, make sure you keep a fence between you and the horses...Certainly a very good opportunity for taking photographs and the Stud have bus loads of tourists every day with tour guides working away all day."

Get in contact with me if you want a lift - lets try to minimise our carbon footprint - and help preserve what we've come to paint/draw!

Arrive sometime after 10.30 for 11 -11.15 start - ok! Lets meet in coffee shop..- Hope to see you there - J O Flynn/087 2709097

I suggested recently that we might post a picture here after we go on a Paint-Out -to give non-members an idea of where we go and what we get up to! It could be an edited version of a painting or drawing, a portion of one, perhaps emblamatic of place or what you felt about it.

As I've had no volunteers I thought I'd put up my last outing's picture from Herbert Park in March: its not often I tackle a subject with moving people in it but the practice pitch in use on a Saturday morning seemed to celebrate one aspect of this urban park: executing it wasn't helped by players disappearing shortly after I had committed myself to this scene - and taking the goal posts with them! (I've often thought that practicing drawing from memory should be a skill taught at art classes ....etc). Awaiting your image postings! (if you want to send them to me to prepare for you, ie crop, adjust tone, etc, ie width should be max 450 pixels to fit this column, please do - I promise to enhance them in whatever way the software allows!), - JOF
