Event Description

Dublin Plein Air Painting Festival is a week long out door painting festival run in July every year in Ireland. An exciting festival based in Fingal and North county Dublin. Painters from Ireland and all over the world will descend on the region to paint and have fun with artists who love to paint out doors.

Whether you have never painted out doors before, are a novice or a more experienced plein air painter the Dublin plein air festival is the one painting festival you should put in your diary for June.

Getting to the our plein air festival is easy.
We have a very good road and rail infrastructure for artists traveling from around Ireland.
While for international Artists visiting the festival, we are very closely located to Dublin International airport as well as the Dublin ferry port.
We also have on our website a number of accommodation choices that will suit all budgets.
This makes visiting our festival even more attractive.

Plein air workshops are also part of the festival, where you'll be taught the tricks of the trade when painting plein air (out doors). The festival is open to all people over eighteen years of age.

The festival will visit seven different towns and villages throughout Dublin/Fingal.

Hello artists, we are going to hold our festival from Monday, 19 July to Sunday, 25 July. www.dublinpleinair.ie

Following consultation with our venue partners, announcements made on the 30th March regarding the vaccine roll out for Covid 19 and the government’s road map for opening up the country;; we have decided in the interest of safety for all artists participating to change our festival dates from June to July.

By then the vaccination rollout will be much further along and a larger percentage of the population will have received their jabs. This will make our festival safer and therefore more enjoyable.

We will still need to have some Covid safety protocols in place but hopefully not as many as last year.

Whatever we do, your safety is our priority. Hope everybody is keeping well and safe and look forward to seeing you all in July.

GOOD NEWS

Dear Artists, in keeping with the Irish government’s five stage plan we have been advised to re-schedule the festival dates to Monday 20 - Sunday 26 July 2020.

More details on www.dublinpleinair.ie

We are happy to do so for the health and safety of everyone involved, which is paramount in every decision we will make for this years festival.

We are fully committed to making our festival the best it can be and feel it is important that the 2020 Dublin Plein Air Festival allows artists to get back to some sort of normality.

There will be a number of variations to this years festival the main ones being ; that the number of participating artists will be limited and all seven venues will be in large open spaces to enable social distancing guidelines. Workshop places will also be limited to accommodate social distancing guidelines.

We are preparing detailed guide lines regarding how each day will be hosted; which we will forward to you and all artists before the festival.

Although these are strange times we will do everything we can to make our festival a very enjoyable event but please be aware a certain flexibility is required to deal with any changing circumstances that may happen in the coming weeks.

We like you continue to monitor the situation very closely.

Needless to say we will keep you updated in the weeks to come.

This is not relevant to the general theme,, but in the present circumstances we need stuff to cheer us up,   my favourite phrase is "joyful exuberance"  and I think this Youtube piece has it.   I think it's wonderful but that we could do just as well with one per cent of the paint and a fan brush.   What do you think?
