Plein Eire

Your Site For Artists Who Paint Outdoors

I'm sure this is a silly question but I can't remember how to upload images to my page.  I tried clicking on 'photos' and I chose an image from my files but then nothing happened.

Welcome Deborah, I have posted many upside down and blank photos but I have found this link

http://pleineire.ning.com/page/site-guide

I use Picassa which is free to download from google to re-size my photos but I am sure your camera software will do the same job

Myybe you just forgot to click on the "Upload" button on the bottom right hand corner after you selected an image. It can take a few seconds depending on the size of your image and your internet speed (make sure to reduce the image to something no larger than 100-150 Kb - otherwise it will take longer to load and will probably be re-sized in the process by the website's software anyway - just takes longer.

I'm able to upload my photos alright.  But how do I add the details/caption at the same time.  I always seem to have to give it two goes.

This sequence to upload photos from your computer:

  1. Go to 'My Page'
  2. Click 'Artwork' in left hand menu. A camera icon box will open.
  3. Click the camera icon to upload photo(s) from your computer.
  4. Select the required photo file (preferably resized to approx 750 pixels width but certainly less than 1Mb. If you don't, it will take longer to upload your photo and viewers may give up).
  5. You can add other photos by clicking 'Add' and then selecting those (to a maximum 5 photos per day)
  6. Click 'Upload' in bottom right corner of the camera icon box.
  7. When uploaded, a new page 'Edit Uploaded Photos' opens. This is where you can add a Title (change this to your painting's title). Then a Description. Here you give the size, medium and any other details you want to say. Then go to the Tab box. Here give key words to raise your image in Google Searches so the location etc. is important..
  8. Finally, on this same page you can assign your photo to a particular Album of related paintings eg. ' My 2014 Paintings', 'My Venice Paintings' etc.

You may click on the photo's 'Options' to edit these details at any time.

           Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for that. Have to feel my way each time - sometimes I get it right. Most times I don't. Hope to do the correct thing and with confidence from now on.
