Possible to Process Credit Cards on Smart Phone

In a development that could be very useful for artists selling their paintings, there is now a Paypal facility that allows anyone to  process their customers'  credit cards on  their smart phone.    A  small device is plugged into the phone and the card is swiped through it in the normal way. Payment is added to the seller's  paypal  account.   Money may be received from Paypal by cheque or by transfer to online bank.  Unfortunately not yet available in Ireland. See video:

Thanks Sean that looks like a good bit of technology - but I could see someone running off with the phone  when you hand it to them to sign :) but I am just being cynical
