I have just been looking at the site for Robert Perry and he is the ultimit in outdoor painting. A british modern exponent of this art, he creates his own equiptment and paints quite large paintings outside. He has also apered in several programs.Worth a look at. Came across him about a year ago on a TV programme about setting up the annual Royal Academy Summer Show (London) and Robert Perry was one of the artists the film crew followed as he tried to get in year after year. Alas, he didn't get in that year either but he's a totally dedicated plein air artist alright.
