Thanks everyone for the nice comments. Elaine - I use Art Spectrum primers too, either pre-coloured or clear mixed with acrylic paints. I have also recently being trying out Golden's Pastel primer which I find gives a finer / smoother texture than Artspectrum. What kind of boards have you used? I have tried on MDF, heavy duty grey board and canvas boards. Find heavy duty grey board works out bit better than others as cheaper and more lightweight.

Well done!  Velore is hard, I think.  Although I haven't used pastels on it in years.  What do you use when you make your own boards?  I use Art Spectrum primers and paint it on various kinds of boards, although haven't done that many pastels lately.
