The Salinas de Rio Maior located 3 km North from Rio Maior , in the southern area of protected natural park of Serra d'Aire e Candeeiros, at 99 meters high and occupies an area of about 21 865 m2. This is the only one inland salt exploitation in Portugal and it is a protected Portuguese Cultural Heritage. The geographical coordinates are 39 ° 21 '50''N and 8 º 56' 43''.
