Event Description

In case we all get snowed in, over the next few days, I thought we could keep our third Nocturne in mind. Next Thursday night, from whenever it gets dark...wherever you are. A "pastoral scene" was suggested for this one ( by the light of the moon), which will be easier if you live out of town. Keep an eye on this page for a possible meet-up venue, if the weather improves.... Good luck everyone!!

Wow..love the minimalist feel to this Rene, ..can you post it in the main gallery also, as it's definitely one for our Christmas Event.Did you work from available light, or did you bring a lamp??( I'm still trying to work out which is better)

I managed to get a painting done in twilight today..as for a nocturne...I'll have to postpone until the roads are safer..might still get one done tonight if the moon comes out to play!

I looked up your weather online, and it really looks intense! Stay warm and safe!

Getting a bit of shelter helps a lot .(.a doorway or hedge,or the back of a car). keep warm

It was -3 yesterday afternoon, we are well and truly snowed in today so I might try going out as it is so beautiful and make hay while the sun shines etc

-7c in Galway at 6.30pm today, with no wind. Thats bearable. Its the wind chill factor that stings.

Hi Nora.....maybe if your easel's outside..and your kitchen window's open!! Well, if you paint in your garden, the plus side is that you can have numerous hot water bottles to hand, and you could always dash in and out to defrost!
What temperature is it in your "neck of the woods"?

Whats the freezing point of oils - Yes I know its prob less then -12 but the water in my fingers freezes at about +10
Well done to all of you so far but I just couldnt make myself stand in that cold all last week for even 10 mins and today in Meath we are well and truly snowed in - does painting from an outdoor scene in the garden from the kitchen window count as "plein air" ......... :)

Forget the photo of the layers!! Gonna stay local & invisible; not doing the Michellan man look in public. ha ha.
Back garden for me, in case I am a wimp after all.
