I am going to Collins Barracks tomorrow  friday, to have a browse through their exhibition and to do some sketching.  The weather forecast is looking ok with no rain forecast but we have permission to sketch indoors also. Close to Heuston station and Phoenix park, accessible by bus, train, luas or by car.

At the National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History you'll find Irish haute couture garments, furniture, silver, jewellery, ceramics, and exhibitions exploring Irish military history, including the 1916 Easter Rising.

Meet around 10.30 in the coffee shop

I'm kicking myself that I didn't come up with an illustration as you so aptly have, Norah.   I saw the documentary and we basically do not realize how respected she is internationally.

Thank you Sean, you are a fund of info.  There was a lovely documentary on rte recently about her and it may still be available on i-player.  wouldn't this make a great place to store your painting gear ?

Interestingly the museum also hosts  probably the premier exhibition  of the work of Irish-born designer Eileen Gray whose reputation grows continually. The Eileen Gray exhibition is on permanent display at the Decorative Arts & History site, Collins Barracks. The exhibition posthumously realised one of Gray’s last ambitions – to have her work brought back to Ireland. Regarded as one of the most influential 20th Century designers and architects, the exhibition includes such important items as the adjustable chrome table and the non-conformist chair. The exhibition also values Gray on a personal level, including family photographs, her lacquering tools, and personal ephemera. It illustrates an account of her professional development from art student in London and Paris to mature, innovative architect. The exhibition honours the memory of Eileen Gray, modern self-taught architect and designer.
