The paintout this Saturday, 24 August 2024 is at McSwyne’s castle, on the road to St John’s point, off the N56. McSwyne’s castle or rather the remains of it (think Doe castle missing ¾ of the walls) sits right at the edge of a lovely stoney bay. The site is accessible as part of heritage week so the private parking bay nearby will be open to use. There is an open call for painters with information about conservation of the site, music in the afternoon etc. There is plenty to explore in the area also for those who are accompanying painters - an old church with cemetery and stone cross, St John’s point further down the road…
We will be meeting at 10am in Charlie’s West End Cafe (F94 YVF9) on Main Street in Ardara (Drumbaran) on the N56 and make our way to McSwyne's from Ardara at 10.30am.
It is August and the weather forecast so far is mostly dry but who can trust it so far in advance! So be sure to bring everything you might need to face nature, in no particular order: sunscreen, hat, scarf, layers, raincoat, helpers, art materials, chair, easel… - and whatever you need to sustain yourself: a light lunch, drink of your choosing. All are welcome to come along in body - and mind.
