I think I can figure out "hurler on the ditch"! :) At least I'm guessing at it. Thanks, Jane for explaining the other words. I appreciate you all putting up with my questions, and here I thought I knew what a bog was! lol

If that last painting posted is indeed the last one, what a way to finish. A real stunner, Kevin! But perhaps as "the hurler on the ditch" (another one for Elaine!), I'm not entitled to comment.

Hey Karen...that was fun! thanks....and congrats to everyone on a wonderful body of work...really enjoyed checking it all out every morning. oh and thanks to the weather Gods...for such a beautiful week last week!!
Elaine....corncrakes are a type of bird here and well bog cotton is a type grass with a cotton head on it that grows across bogs...it makes for a lovely picture alright...although bog cotton does sound as if it's a type of toilet paper!! lol! (before you ask Elaine....The toilet is often called the 'bog' in Dublin lingo!! lol!)

This was a fun challenge, thank you, Karen! I know, I am the yank who asks all the questions....I now know what midges are. I have a new question, actually two. What are corncrakes, and bog cotton? Silly me for not knowing these things, but I don't have a bog near me.

I also really like the last paintings, both Kevins. Very well done!

Hi Philip
You're right :) I am working pretty intensely though.
Good cure for midges, stop eating dairy. They love the smell. I gave up dairy a year ago and they just ignore me now.

Is tomorow not day 7 ? Went down to bog earlier all set to paint went walking with camera and got photos of corncrakes - quite rare and am going to go back tomorrow to try some bog cotton which is just out. googled tips for midges and "Avon - skin so soft" is supposed to work so will have to get some !

Tom...It'll break your heart..you get out of bed in the morning "thinking about it", you have your dinner "thinking about it", and you go to bed at night "thinking about it"...but you must do it, it's a great motivator.
