Hi all,



This Sunday the Dublin Sketchers will meet at the Bloody Stream pub/Entrance to the Howth DART Station at 2pm. Hopefully the weather will be kind! Might as well make the best of the summer and get to some nice outdoor locations while we can. Meet up again at 4pm at the same spot for coffee/seafood!



It has been a few months since we visited Howth and there is so much to sketch/paint out there.

These are not plein air, because, for many of them, Rob has not yet perfected the art of time travel, but it sure looks so!

The People' Choice awards, where Art in the Open 2010 exhibition visitors ignore our esteemed judges' pronouncements to make their own selection of where the accolades should go, brought a bumper response this year. There were over 500 visitors to the exhibition on the opening bank holiday afternoon and a steady stream of visitors followed throughout the following week. Summer is fading ,could be a beautiful evening with fab light, sun sinks and tips the houses fronting the beach. I have painted this one before and its a knockout scene.

I am a Bacon fan but this is going too far.

Haven't done any tidying since June when the last of classes wound up.

Here are the excuses;

1. Katie our daughter was using the space to put together her portfolio for college and that worked out well, Dun Laoghaire gave her maximum marks (600) and offered her a place as did Ballyfermot.

A very huge thanks to all planners and participants in Art in the Open. I don't remember when I have felt so welcomed and encouraged. I have been to quite a few paint outs, both juried and open, and would put this one at the top for it's organization and inclusiveness. Everything went smoothly from the time I got there until I had to say good by I don't know if I have met such a welcoming group of folks as you.
