Your Site For Artists Who Paint Outdoors

A very huge thanks to all planners and participants in Art in the Open. I don't remember when I have felt so welcomed and encouraged. I have been to quite a few paint outs, both juried and open, and would put this one at the top for it's organization and inclusiveness. Everything went smoothly from the time I got there until I had to say good by I don't know if I have met such a welcoming group of folks as you. I showed up pretty much a stranger and, after meeting you felt that I had known you for years. Thanks for all of your time and energy. We painted every day up til and during the event--and continued until I left Ireland--and beyond---hope you all had a great time at the Hook. Thanks for including us not just in the painting, which was super, but also for sharing meals, long conversations and pints at the pub.

Hey, why don't you post that challenge on the events page??? See what the uptake is.. Will you set a time frame? Go for it..you have at least two participants now!!(right Jane???)

Yes..the weather improved when you left..thought you had a direct line..what happened??
I think the weather will break here after the weekend. I had already mentioned a synchronised paint out..so I guess it'll be some time next week...I have to put out the "Feelers " still!!
I like your challenge... we'll work on it

Hey David...maybe if you paint for the synchronised paint out at the same local time where you are...ie...if we paint at 6.30 then you paint when it's 6.30 over there....just a thought! Would be fun to do do an enlargement alright! You're as good as Karen coming up with new challenges.....the ole brushes won't get a chance to dry out! ;)

Are you trying to say you have open blue skies-----and with the enlarging, we could post both side by side on site--or you could talk Tony into having a little show for you all with the two pieces side by side. Maybe I'll wait for the rest of you to tackle it--or maybe, if the weather doesn't break-I'll start now.

Crikey that's a challenge and a half!! your scaring me now David!! Seriously though, good idea. I have been trying to figure out how to do that same thing without loosing the immediacy of the piece.
Well, if we go ahead with a synchronised paint out, you could take part in that one...( don't worry about bringing all your crew on board), we'll see how it goes.
With regard to the "challenge", I'd be on for that...maybe at a later date though. The weather here is great at the moment..so we're all trying to catch the light!!

Going well --did 2 Sat. after returning, but got caught up in Gallery meetings, plus it's about 38/39C again. I think the synchronizing would have to be something like 12 and 4 or 9 and 2---something like that---I would have to send a blog to the group and get a response. On the other hand---how about a challenge--use one of the small paintings done during, pre and post the paint out, and enlarge it at triple or quadruple the size--say at least16x20 or larger

One other thing--noticed you were going to Screen--if you pick me up, I will be happy to come with you all--just start a little earlier
