What does an Artist gain from working " En Plein Air", that working in a studio doesn't achieve? I asked this question before painting outdoors, and after time, began to realize the wealth of information I had been turning my back on. I have a wide interest in Art and work in various  media, materials, and methods.  Plein Air , for me, has become a "touchstone" and a discipline - a connection with our "present", and helps to remind me of the beauty and inspiration to be found in our immediate surroundings.Painting Plein Air, I try to act as a "conduit" to the viewer, attempting to evoke the sense of curiosity and emotional response, which first caused me to stop - and look again...

Wish I could be there.  We just had our daughter's wedding, and before that a big trip out to Wyoming to visit our other daughter.  All the excitement I could handle this summer!  But I certainly am thinking about everyone.  Sounds like great workshops going on this year, and all the fun, and music!!  I had SO much fun playing music with that group, it was one of the many, many highlights of last summer's AITO.  I'll be watching for pictures of this year.  Have fun!!

SEPA Paintout - Kilmokea Gardens-Sunday June 16th - at Kilmokea Country Manor

June 16, 2013 from 11am to 4:30pm
We Painted here in Kilmokea Gardens a couple of years ago, and found it very enjoyable. We have a couple of excuses to go back next Sunday. Laura Gibney and Denise Gerard are exhibiting works as part of a group show there, which runs for a month. Besides the chance to support our fellow painters, the Gardens themselves offer a great oppertunity, with formal arrangements close to the house and a wilder woodland further down. Emma, form Kilmokea Country Manor and gardens, has kindly offered us…See More

It was great to see everyone able to paint in the comfort of a…

A long stretch of beach, the Village itself or "The Burrow". Cafe's and Kelly's Resort Hotel for refreshments, all within a short distance of your painting spot.
