What does an Artist gain from working " En Plein Air", that working in a studio doesn't achieve? I asked this question before painting outdoors, and after time, began to realize the wealth of information I had been turning my back on. I have a wide interest in Art and work in various media, materials, and methods. Plein Air , for me, has become a "touchstone" and a discipline - a connection with our "present", and helps to remind me of the beauty and inspiration to be found in our immediate surroundings.Painting Plein Air, I try to act as a "conduit" to the viewer, attempting to evoke the sense of curiosity and emotional response, which first caused me to stop - and look again...

Beautiful Sunshine today, made for a great return outdoors in the wonderful location , Fethard on Sea. We missed a 10km run from Hook head to Fethard in aid of MS, as a majority of us couldn't move past a gem located just before Fethard Harbour. It was great to see everyone able to paint in the comfort of a…

We had the first promise of Summer at Rosslare Strand Bank Holiday Monday SEPA Paintout. After such a long winter and cold Spring, it was great to see all the crew back out painting and taking advantage of the sunny spell. Rosslare has loads to offer the Plein Air Painter. A long stretch of beach, the Village itself or "The Burrow". Cafe's and Kelly's Resort Hotel for refreshments, all within a short distance of your painting spot.
Here's Lize Human who found a great place to…

Hi karen thanks for the welcome! I'm very glad I've found this website, greetings Sonja
Wish I could be there. We just had our daughter's wedding, and before that a big trip out to Wyoming to visit our other daughter. All the excitement I could handle this summer! But I certainly am thinking about everyone. Sounds like great workshops going on this year, and all the fun, and music!! I had SO much fun playing music with that group, it was one of the many, many highlights of last summer's AITO. I'll be watching for pictures of this year. Have fun!!
thanks Karen, Looking forward to paint out next sunday. I am bringing my sister Marie Chantal. She is quite a good artist.
