Plein Air group in Dublin area. Paint-outs on 1st Saturday of the month (weather permitting) plus other events as members decide.

Membership is free and open to all abilities.

Plein Eire Dublin Paint-Outs

A 'Paint-Out' can be arranged by anyone. Even an impromptu session can be posted here if the weather is promising and you have an afternoon or a morning to spare. We try to meet regularly. Just decide on a time and a suitable venue and post a notice on the group page and 'Events'.

Time and location to be posted in advance both on "Plein Eire Dublin" and "Events" pages on this Plein Eire site.

RSVP on 'Events' for notice to be sent to you in the event of any change in plans or check this Plein Eire Dublin Group page on the morning of a paint-out .

Nominate a time and location with reasonable painting prospects.
Identify a local cafe or hostelry for artists to meet in before and after.
Indicate if there is parking available nearby, and if its free or metered.
Post the suggestion to 'Events'and copy and paste the link to the Comment Wall below on this page.

Members may also propose paint-outs at other times as suits them and ask for other members who may be available to join them.

Another time hopefully. Great turnout. We're hoping to set our easels in motion down here soon too! Here's to a productive 2012!!

Comment by Tom Scott on January 8, 2012 at 13:08: The first session of the year was held in the Botanic Gardens on Sat. 7th Jan. There was a very good turn out with fourteen painters present many out for the first time with the Dublin Group. The day was cold but bright allowing those who wished to paint outdoors and those who preferred shelter or a different challenge made for one of the glass houses. We met initially in the restauarant for coffee and at the end of the session for sustenance and a chat. It was great start to our painting year and hopefully created a momentum for the rest of the year. We took a group photo at the end but Svetlana and Julia were missing for this.

Comment by john o'flynn on December 6, 2011 at 8:47: Four of us attended December’s “First-Sat-of-Month” Paint Out in Howth on 3/12/11; luckily, as with November’s Paint Out in Dalkey, the sun shone, tho’ it was quite cold if one was not in a sheltered spot.

Next month, January’s Paint Out, we have agreed will be in a central location – back in the Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin, where we met last January (one of last January’s pics attached). With shelter (warm greenhouses and café) and a Christmas ambience, it seems a suitable venue for the low point (from a plein air point of view) of winter .

So hope to see you on Sat Jan 7th at around 11 in main cafe at Botanic Gdns, Glasnevin.
