7 painters gathered at the "first beach" along the avenue to Lissadell House to capture the bluebells...in fact the bluebells were outnumbered by the swathes of wild garlic under the trees and we hadn't reckoned on the hungry early Midges!!!
Elaine and Roberta painted in oils...Elaine chose a beautiful little lane way with a rise to trees in the distance and captured the light beautifully. Roberta joined us from Ballyshannon on her first time on a Paint Out and persisted magnificently despite the ardent attention of a particularily hungry mob of Midges...
Olivia, also a newcomer to Plein Air, worked happily in charcoal and had two black hands to prove it...but enjoyed it immensely and assured us she'd join us again!
The water colourists Aileen and Mary chose a vernal grotto with a rock wall hung with creepers as a backdrop and surrounded by wild garlic...all they needed were the Elizabethen dresses and parasols to complete the image and maybe Mr. d'Arcy would have come galloping by...!
Frances and myself ,armed with acrylics , perched close to the waters edge with the views across the bay to the Lower Rosses and A hazy Knocknarea in the distance as the evening turned golden.... Within a 3 hour period we had such changes...from drizzle to watery sunshine to magical shiny pastels towards the west...and Frances captured the moods completing two wonderful paintings!
And...if I can figure out how...I'll post some photos of the evening!
