Your Site For Artists Who Paint Outdoors

I have been painting in downtown Annapolis every day this week experimenting with small (6x8 and 5x7) paintings, but with large subjects---a challenge.

I find I have a bit of a mental block when it comes to buildings though, I say to myself to approach in much the same way as a landscape, but I think all the activity distracts my attention, and it ends up too tight.I intended getting one in today, but didn't get a chance. I'll try tomorrow and will keep your tips in mind...thanks a mill.

I saw one of your views overlooking a town and it looked great--very loose and not to structured. I tend to block in loosely but structure the foreground. I also sometimes thin the crowd and use only the ones I like, color wise.
