Painting Break in Donegal

I have just got back from a short break in Donegal which went extreemly well despite the rather inclement weather ! This is the first Painting break I have organised in Donegal for a good few years and it was great to show the newcomers around to some of the delights of this magnificent part of the country. I have been coming here for over 16 years and have painted at all times of the year and in ALL weathers but the place never dissapoints !

This Break was centered around the Beach Hotel, Downings and we got to paint around Lackagh Bridge, Melmore Head and Fanny's bay plus sampling the delights of some great Guinness at some really traditional pubs.

I will be posting some of my sketchbook paintings once i have photographed them and if anybody would like to know more about me check out my web site barryherniman.com

Painting in Donegal

This was a VERY windy day up at Melmore Head in Co Donegal and my group was getting blown about all over the place. Then we decided to move further along the beach and found a spot beneath a large sand dune and there was no wind at all. So it was an extreemly pleasant experience with the sun beating down on us and some great light across the water. On the way back we stopped off… Read on...
