Watercolour Painting Holiday Workshop May 2020

Come and paint with me in Lucca Italy May 2020!
my painting holidays are all about the fun of painting in a supportive group environment and is suitable for all levels. Mostly, we'll be painting en plein air (a nice quiet locale in which to play with our paints!) and enjoying the fresh air. I know Lucca like the back of my hand and will take you to some of my favourites spots to paint!!
You can take a lunch break when your painting allows you to walk away and then continue to paint after. After a short siesta we'll meet for dinner at one of Lucca's favourite dining spots!

Tuition, meals, accommodation and excursions are all included all you have to do is get to Pisa and I will take care of the rest!!

Thanks for your response Amanda. It's a nice technique and one I will practice. I'm usually either trying to painstakingly work around the letters or detail I want to preserve or alternatively I draw out the dark wash afterwards with a damp brush. But when I study your painting closely, I can see how the thin application of water on the damp wash has pushed back the more concentrated paint - it's very effective and leaves a fresher finish than drawing colour out with a damp brush after it has dried. Thanks for the tip Amanda. Did you visit AITO in Wexford this year? I can't recall seeing you there.

Probably just until the 14th.  My son and his family live in Prague and he will come over to Dublin to join me for awhile.  It is my first visit to Ireland also.  I am told that I'm 73% Irish by Ancestry.  Ive always know tho from family history on both sides that I'm very Irish.  And the part that isn't is Scotch and English.  I'm fascinated with the idea that so many of the Irish are plein air painters.  It sort of explains my passion for it.  I will go on to Prague with him after and stay till the end of the month.  I live in Florida.  I love the idea of you painting in Italy every year.  Ive not gotten south of Venice.

Yes!  It will the first time for me.  I see you are in New Zealand.  You will be teaching in Italy just before that?  Sounds lovely.  I dabble in many mediums but am using pastel outside at the moment.  Your watercolors are beautiful!  I used to do them in the studio but found it too difficult outdoors.
