One of the things I had to fight, Rene, was the urge to add more detail as the sun got higher in the sky. When I started I couldn't really see anything other than flat shapes, and I had to remember not to lose that light effect.

Thanks Deirdre. I simplified the background a lot so as not to make it too busy in that area.

Thanks Rene. Maybe it's because he has painted similar buildings in Staithes.
