Oil on A3 cardboard
We painted in Saint Stephens Green last Wednesday. I did this A3
size oil of the duck pond and bridge. The autumn colours were in their full
magnificence. I include here the preliminary sketch in pencil on paper
with ducks in the lower left corner. I tried putting them into the finished
painting but they proved too energetic to capture in paint. Capturing
moving creatures is something I have yet to work out how to do with
paint. Painting at this location was interesting as we got a lot of
attention from passers buy who were extremely curious. Typical
questions included : how long did it take you? do you sell your
paintings? and for how much? Maybe there is a market out there
after all.

That looked great when I saw it, loved the blue greens you had in the background to make the vivid colours pop out, you were brave to set up there on the edge of the pathway as you got lots of people stopping but I went there to got out of my comfort zone with people around but still found a nice quiet spot with Caroline for company.  I think you dont need the duck as the title says it all and you can imagine that some of the colours on the pond are ducks ? There were beautiful swans beside us with a homeless man feeding them, he comes there every day and they take food from his hand - a story there to be told someday ! How about one day next week ?
