Straw Bales, Near Screen

It was such a nice morning yesterday, that I just jumped in the car and drove out towards Screen, hoping to find some of the last straw bales. I got lucky with this little find, although I had to shift things around a bit to make an interesting painting (there's a photo of the scene on my blog - on the drop down menu on my website).

Comment by Michael McGuire on August 27, 2012 at 19:06: Thanks Terry. That particular "trick" is called halation. It stops things, especially rounded forms, appearing like cardboard cut-outs. Might have overdone it a little bit with the nearest bale though!

I like the emphasis given by the "shine effect" achieved by blurring the line on the tops of the bales.
