I loved loved loved this place. So filled with contrast of light and motion The seaweed strewn rocks black against the ochres and indian reds of the shoreline. silver seas and stormy moody clouds How can you possibly go wrong here? Can't wait to go back. Thank you for recommending Carna Bay Hotel too best food I ever ate in Ireland

Well captured jeanean.
Thank you Caroline, Like I said it is hard to go wrong in Connemara or anywhere in Ireland for that matter. The other place that I saw magnificent dark rocks like this was in Maine. Just went there for the first time. How lucky we are as landscape painters to experience beauty first hand
I agree. My favourite place in the WHOLE of Ireland, the light, contrasts of fantastic blue skies and seas, and as for the landscape - out of this WORLD. The best place also to paint rocks, even at low tide.
P.S. A lovely rendering of a very unique landscape!
It's 1pm. It's a grey overcast day here to but not oppressively so. (and no rain, 'yet') There are a few hits of blue here and
there. The most striking thing here this year is the magnificent display of yellows ochres and reds on
the trees. We had a very late spring this year and I think the trees made up for it with thick foliage.
It's great to here about how you work from little studies rather than photos
Thank you Patrick. That is a wonderful comment. I try to grasp the essence first and later perhaps work on adding more information or details. I usually try to leave these "first fires" alone. I have a whole collection of little studies that I cherish and never work over. I do, however, use these studies to work from and find them much more helpful then working from a photograph. My first preference is always to work on location. by the way what time is it in Ireland now??? It is 7:54 am here on a gray overcast day (hmm sound familiar) I am getting ready to go to my class to teach. What a nice way to wake up in the morning to hear from Ireland
you have captured the essence of the coastline with quite simplicity
