Thanks for your kind comment, Norah.  I have to confess I didn't   use   any scarlet.  With a basic colour of red, I'm intrigued with making the lights undiluted and unmixed,  orange and yellow,   and making the darks similarly from alizarin and violet.  As regards the title,  I think there is a Sherlock Holmes story titled "A study in Scarlet" so this is a little reference to that.    Elementary or what?
