First one on Sunday at a SEPA paint-out in Clonegal. I was drawn to the sharp contrast in the water as well as the repeated patches of pink (broad leafed willowherb - I think). Thankfully, the day remained dry, albeit overcast.
It's oil on 14" x 11" MDF board.

Thanks Tony. Yes, painting that day was actually fairly effortless!
One of our favourite haunts, Ireland's tidiest village in 2015, congratulations Clonegal. If there was a prize for the most paintable, it would probably win that, too, as this super example shows...
Thanks Ed and Deirdre.
Wow...michael.a beauty.
Classic McGuire! Nice one Michael.
I've been telling the kids about the exploding pods but haven't been able to show them yet as they always seem to be on a dangerous roadside- tempted to take them to Clonegal to see them!
Thanks Sheila. And you're so right, the chap who writes the arts column in the Irish Times on Saturdays chatted to me last year in Graiguenamanagh while I was painting them. I remembered he told me they were from somewhere in Asia and gave me the name too, but it washed over me!
Very lovely. The plant is Himalayan Balsam if it's the ones with the popping seed heads and pink flowers that were there
