Thanks Tony, the last photos in my album were taken in sunlight, when I paint I always keep my painting in shade so I can read the tones more easily. I just happened to have my camera with me so thought it might be a good idea to do a 'sequence' - again, it was the enthusiasm engendered by you and Karen and so many others, plein air, nocturnes, 'en snow air' - I've no time left to do anything else!
Re electric tootsie warmers - yes, as long as they're solar powered!

Thanks for posting this album, John. Its a wonderfully instructive and encouraging sequence of photos leading to a great painting.
The last photo taken in the frame - we call that the 'Maloney shot' for some reason.
I'm thinking of taking a series of shots of my next painting and sending it off to 'Dr. John' so you can pop it up on your x-ray screen and see if you can tell me at which point I dropped the ball.
Yesterday I read a little blog by Jen Holmes on the US equivalent of Plein Eire and she describes using electric socks and gloves as well as a pocket handwarmer to keep warm while painting in the snow. What about that? Those yanks think of everything.
