Event Description

Pumpkins are a hard act to follow but this week PEBV are painting out at Beaulieu House, Baltray  It is a very special place, home to the same family since 1650 with a four acre walled garden and landscaped grounds.  Outside the walls, there’s a wooden temple, a thatched summer house, lake and fairytale woodlands (safe but we go at our own risk).

Beaulieu was constructed between 1660 and 1666 overlooking the Boyne estuary.

The owners have very graciously offered us access to the grounds free of charge on Saturday.  There will also be tours of the house for anyone who can’t resist it.

The forecast is good for Saturday so come along.  We meet in Baltray Golf Club at 11 a.m.  The golf club is in Baltray on the North side of the River and east of Drogheda.  You will pass Beaulieu on the way to the Golf Club.

To get to Baltray from M1 from Dublin (and avoid toll)

Follow the signs for the M1 Belfast, after around 20 minutes take the turn off for Julianstown / Drogheda South.

  1. Follow the signs for Drogheda town centre.
  2. Drive past the Drogheda train station on your right and follow the road in to the main town.
  1. You will pass Scotch Hall Shopping Centre and Car Park on your right.
  2. Get into the righthand lane.
  3. When you get to the next large junction turn right  (signpost ‘docks’).
  4. Cross the bridge and take the immediate right.  The river is now on your right.
  5. Continue as far as you are allowed and turn left and then immediately right.
  6. You are now on the Baltray road. You will go under the viaduct.
  7. Just keep going keeping the river on your right. (You will pass the turn for Beaulieu).  After about 3? Miles you will see a pretty thatched cottage on right. Cross a little bridge.
  8. Turn right for Baltray village.  Follow signs for golf club.

 Well done!
