You had a great break in Kinsale, by the looks of it.
Perhaps 'break' is not the right word judging by the amount of work you got done. Are you sure you were wise to leave Patricia all that much free shopping-time? Guess that explains the 'early morning light's and the 'harbour at evening's, huh? Great stuff, Paul. Coool!
Mostly when I do a still life---but I have done interiors, standing near a door or window to get light just catching edges or washing across the floor---I think it's all good, painting on site.
I usually defer to Michael M. or your good self on such matters of P.A. theology but as long as your trouser legs weren't tucked inside your socks at the time, I think its okay.
My manual suggests, helpfully, you could try rushing outside every couple of minutes to get a big gulp of air, just to be sure.
After college I went to Sweden on a Coras Trachtala Design Award - mass production. No jobs really in that so I drifted into teaching. Later I did an MA in History of Art and now just paint.
Yes. I graduated from NCAD in 1978. I did ceramics there but did hardly any afterwards. Now I paint in oils and watercolour (preferably out of doors) and love life drawing..
Don't mind me Paul i only want to study your brushwork in better detail : ) Great tip to avoid the bowed edges, must remember that one, I usually just straighten them out in photoshop afterwards but thats labour saving cheers. Am about to check out Ken Howards work that you and Michael Richardson mentioned.
Thanks for the comments. The colour seems to do a lot of the work for you if its right but I really struggle with my palette at the moment I can't believe artists like Kevin Macpherson achieve what he does only using three colours. I feel my paintings often lack structure compared to work like yours. Congrats on your prize btw well deserved.
Thanks Paul my work is a load of SH*** at the mo at least thats the way I feel but you are absolutely forgeing ahead with the lovely work you are producing, congrats
Paul - a bit of artists `deja vu` at work - I would love to see what you

Lovely painting. A favourite spot of mine - even though I am Dublin based. I knew instantly where it was!
