SEPA in Duncormick, Co.Wexford. Sunday 19/01/14

Annie Cahill, Phil Hofler, Tom King, George McHugh, Neil O'Keeffe, Tony Robinson, Karen Scannell and Louise Treacy gotr their brushes wet in and around the village of Duncormick for a first paint-out of 2014. Wet and chilly to start but brightened up with clear light and strong cloud shapes in the afternoon. Most of the group settled in nearby Cullenstown where there is an amazing piece of 'outsider art';…

Present: Laura…

A Bit of Culture

On Friday's Culture Night, (23rd September) among several events taking place in Wexford, Plein Eire's  Kevin Freeney, Paul Maloney and Tony Robinson took part in a 'live' portrait painting session from 5.30 until 7.15pm in Spectrum Art Shop while onlookers could walk through, chat or pop back to see the progress.

Model for the evening was Wexford Rose, Mary Kehoe who kindly agreed to provide the inspiration for the trio.

Meanwhile, just around the corner in Wexford Library,…

Art in the Open 2011: Festival Diary

The countdown to the festival has officially begun.

Months of planning and preparation by the small committee and volunteers make up the AITO festival iceberg below the waterline. Fundraising, wheeling and dealing, meetings, arguing and communicating, re-designing logos, building websites, more meetings, stakeholders and sponsors, evaluating, re-evaluating,…

Better than freezing the nuts off your easel.

Further to the earlier blog experiment, in which I posted some non-plein air drawings done over the winter, here are a few paintings done when, if braver, I'd have been out painting in the cold.

Hibernianation.

Tony Robinson's trial blog:

While some headed for the Maldives or the auld gite during winter, like many other plein air Paddies, I head towards the warmth of the life-drawing studio. So the drawings below aren't plein air but they are what fills the vacuum (when plein air isn't there).

This is a selection of drawings made during the RHA marathon week (you pay to go) in November 2009. There are 3 more of these week-long sessions during March, April and May… Read on...
