Sunday 14th - National Art Gallery @2pm

Hi all,



This Sunday we will meet at the Merrion Square entrance to the National Art Gallery - at 2pm. This is the entrance to the older part of the Gallery and from there you can disperse and enjoy whichever areas of the Gallery you wish. Others may wish to spend time outdoors in Merrion Square - up to you!

Meet up again at 4pm at the lovely café over in the new wing of the Gallery.

Sunday @2pm - IMMA

Hi all,



This week Dublin Sketchers are heading to the Moderns Exhibition over at IMMA. Looks like a great exhibition and the IMMA is always a nice place to visit.



Meet at 2pm inside the main entrance and meet up again at 4pm for coffee in the cafe.



Hopefully the discussion regarding the possible change in time can be discussed

and we can decide whether or not to change it to 1pm for the winter

Paint out stories.

I have found that people cant help looking over the artists shoulder, some do ask first but others well you know.Some of the strangest places where i have encountered curious people,In my early days painting out I was rather shy, so I would go to remot locations, normaly into the hills around Donegal, I found a spot with a good view over Donegal bay, sat down, took out the required equiptment, there was a clear view all around, abslutily not a person in sight, aprox 20 minuets at the point you… Read on...

Sunday 31st - Collins Barracks!

This Sunday we are heading for Collins Barracks and the National Museum of Ireland - a place we have visited many times and always go back wanting more. The courtyard itself is amazing, the architecture beautiful and the exhibitions always interesting - with the most recent Irish High Crosses exhibition currently open. Lots for everyone!

Grand Canal, Sunday 24th @2pm

Hi there everyone!

Hope you are all keeping well and looking forward to a nice Sunday of sketching! This week we will spend a couple of hours taking in the Autumn delights of the Grand Canal - meeting up at 2pm just outside Starbucks on the Mespil Road (just up from Baggott Street).

Under the terms of posting I can only post this here as it was done from a painting, from a painting, from a painting, from a painting, from a pastel sketch and it'll probably go to another painting yet. The sketch was done at Lady Island last year or was it the year before? The image is still in my head and this is near to it.

Phoenix Park this Sunday!

Hi all,

Isn't it only lovely outside - so to celebrate we're going to visit Phoenix Park this Sunday and hope that the fine weather predicted won't let us down! A number of people have shown an interest in visiting the zoo - while others weren't so sure - so a compromise has been reached!

Kilmainham Museum of Modern Art @2pm Sunday 25th







Hello all

Hope this Friday finds you all well and not suffering too much after Arthur's finest yesterday! This Sunday we are all going to head for the Museum of Modern Art - mainly because it has a nice roof - so our ink won't run! Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin @2pm this Sunday!

Happy Friday everyone!



This Sunday the Dublin Sketchers will visit the Botanic Gardens for what looks like a fantastic event - http://www.sculptureincontext.com/ which looks great! Sculptures by Ireland’s leading artists will be displayed throughout the gardens, ponds, Great Palm House, and Curvilinear Range, with the smaller works exhibited in the gallery above the visitors’ centre.

Airfield Trust, Dundrum Sunday @2pm

Hi everyone,


Meeting this Sunday at Airfield Trust, Dundrum (Dublin 14) outside the coffee shop at 2pm. We will meet inside for coffee again at 4pm. Admission to the gardens is 6euro however there are ponys/ some farm animals at the front that you don't have to pay to see.

6 Months in....

Yesterday the site welcomed Mary Quinn , our 181st member, just 6 months since Plein Eire was launched at the beginning of March 2010. That makes roughly one member per day since the site began - a very encouraging response. - Roll on 200!



The website has been bolstered by support from groups Plein Eire West, Dublin Sketchers and the newly-formed Dublin Plein Eire, as well as South East Plein Air and South Tipp Art Group in the south east. It will be interesting to see whether we… Read on...

Recent Dublin Sketchers outings!

Just a quick update! I've been away on hols for the past couple weeks so haven't been able to update Plein Eire with our recent events! There are loads of sketches up on our main blog from our recent outings to the Viking Festival on Wood Quay, the Natural History Museum and a trip to Howth and hopefully there will be some up shortly from yesterdays trip to Moore Street!
