The North West Painters Lost one of its founding members earlier this week. Niel Carrigan His day to day job was as a school teacher but at the weekends he was an avid out door painter, who enjoyed the challenge's of painting the light, around and on the landscape, no matter what the weather and believe you me, we painted in some weather conditions, from wind swept to bright sunny days. On our last trip out the weather was good we went down to the Isle of Doagh in Donegal, where we were…

We had the first promise of Summer at Rosslare Strand Bank Holiday Monday SEPA Paintout. After such a long winter and cold Spring, it was great to see all the crew back out painting and taking advantage of the sunny spell. Rosslare has loads to offer the Plein Air Painter. A long stretch of beach, the Village itself or "The Burrow". Cafe's and Kelly's Resort Hotel for refreshments, all within a short distance of your painting spot.
Here's Lize Human who found a great place to…

I thought if anyone had interesting material relating to Irish Plein Air artists they could post it here.
I know that I am pretty much ignorant about the history of Plein Air so anything of interest would
be good. I would like to see other members posts rather than randomly trawling through the web.
On that note does anyone have images of plein air paintings by Frank O'Meara a 19th Century Irish
artist I recently came across.

It may have felt like the start of Spring, but our two brave souls, certainly didn't have a "Spring" in their step, as they were still…

I came across this exhibition catalogue on the web a while back.
It reminds me of the long tradition that our plein air endeavors
follow in the footsteps of.

I suppose we do look a bit glum. But that was because Norah was not in the picture. She was taking it. We had what you might call a civic reception in Trim. Noel French, President Trim Chamber of Commerce and Cllr. James O'Shea, Leas Cathaoirleach of the town council welcomed us and gave us a broad history of the town of Trim. They…
