Wow....
Beautiful painting John!
Wonderful watercolour John, love your palette, did you get to Venice from there ? we went this time last year with the Travel dept - wonderful place
Thanks Sally and Caroline. Sally, it's a touch of Primary Blue Cyan in a pocket set of Maimeri watercolours. I often mix it with French Ultra Marine to get darker cold but luminous colours or add a touch of Alizarin Crimson or Burnt Sienna to create the warmer dark colours. This painting presented a challenge with so much white in it from the snow peaks and the structure of the boat, so I had to be careful not to lose the whites.
John, just brilliant. I love the highlights on the mountain, and the way you make the boat sitting in the water look so easy to paint - and it is not! Caroline Carroll
This is wonderful, John. Its so fresh. Is that a bit of Prussian Blue in the shadow of the mountain. Brilliant! And the burnt Sienna? on the funnel of the boat - perfect.
